The term “shades” covers many different types of window treatments. A shade is typically constructed of some type of fabric that can be raised or lowered to satisfy your needs at that moment. They do not have slats that can be adjusted to let different amounts of light into your room. They’re either up, down or somewhere in between. They can be room darkening, light filtering or a semi-transparent. Some shades are very energy efficient to help keep your home cool in the summer or warm in the winter. If you have large windows or walls of windows, you are certainly losing heat to Mother Nature in the winter and putting a serious strain on your air conditioning in the summer…and it’s still hot in that room!! Sunco Blinds and Shades can help you figure out what will work best for you and look good while doing it!!

Roller Shades

Roller Shades are a simple, yet very stylish option for covering your windows. They offer both privacy and light control. A roller shade is constructed of a single layer of fabric that “rolls” up. The fabrics for a shade can be simple, patterned, textured or anything in between. There are several types of operating systems as well. Spring loaded, standard clutch, soft rise and motorization are some of many options available.

Screen Shades

A screen shade is roller shade…. but the shade material is woven like a screen. This is a very popular style of shade because it provides privacy and protection from the sun, but also lets you see through it when it is down. Similar to an actual window screen but woven much tighter, screen shades come in various “openness factors” such as 1%, 3% and 5% “open”. The lower the percentage of openness, the better your sun protection but the less “see through” ability. So a 10% openness shade will provide a nice view, but little protection from the sun and little privacy. This simple design along with loads of options makes screen shades hugely popular.

Cellular Honeycomb Shades

The magic of cellular honeycomb shades is in their specially engineered honeycomb shape, a unique construction that traps air and creates a layer of insulation between the window and a room’s inside temperature. These shades offer superior energy efficiency, helping to keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Banded Shades

Designer Banded Shades combine alternating sheer and solid fabric bands in a single shade. This design allows the shade to transition from open to closed seamlessly, providing a modern solution for view-through, light control and privacy. It’s a roller shade and sheer shading, all in one.
